FESTINIOG RAILWAY SOCIETY LTD.

Special train Paddington- Minffordd Saturday 26th April 1958

The Directors of the Festiniog Railway Society Limited extend a cordial welcome to members and guests on this, the second specially organized excursion to view the efforts of the Festiniog Railway Company aided by the volunteers in the rehabilitation of Britain’s oldest public narrow-gauge railway. General Information:

A bookstall has been set up in the Buffet Car where membership forms, car and lapel badges, postcards, guide books and other Festiniog publications will be on sale. British Railways time-tables will be available here for passengers to consult re return connections, etc.

A professional photographer, Mr. R. L. Davidge, of 58 College Road, Harrow, Middlesex, will be in attendance at the bookstall. He will carry a small stock of films, and will be ready to give advice if required. On the return journey he will accept films for processing and subsequent return.

For those who have ordered and paid for cold lunches (for which the voucher is enclosed), these will be served from 11.30 a.m. onwards in the Buffet Car, Kitchen Buffet Car, and Coach 'D’. Those who have ordered sandwich packs (voucher enclosed) may also collect these at this time. In addition a full service of light refreshments will be available, and on the return journey this will be augmented by the provision of hot suppers (ham, eggs, sausages etc.). All refreshment other than luncheon and sandwich packs must be paid for at the time of purchase.

It will be noticed that several prototype vehicles are included in the train. These coaches are of an experimental design for the purpose of testing passenger reaction on British Railways. They are as follows:—

Coach B: B.R. Number E.3082. Open 1st Class saloon, adjustable seats. Manufacturer: Craven.

Coach E: B.R. Number E.4638. Open 2nd Class saloon, adjustable seats. Manufacturer: Craven.

Coach C:B.R.Number M.3721. Open 2nd Class saloon. Manufacturer: B.R., Doncaster.

Coach D: B.R. Number E.3785. Open 2nd Class Saloon. Manufacturer: B.R. Doncaster.
