The Festiniog Railway Society Ltd. is holding its 1974 Annual General Meeting in the afternoon of Saturday 27th April next at Porthmadog.

To enable members from most parts of the country to get there and back in one day anunusual arrangement with British Rail has been entered into, as follows:-

Inclusive tickets will be sold to members of the public and Festiniog Railway Society members from several stations in the London, Birmingham, East Midlands and North Western areas. All passengers will travel on scheduled express trains to Crewe where there will be across-platform connection to a locomotive hauled charter train from Manchester to Bangor, From Bangor members will travel in motor coaches to the Annual General Meeting in Porthmadog followed by a trip on the Festiniog Railway before meeting up again at Blaenau Ffestiniog with members of the public who would have been on an earlier Festiniog Railway train to visit the Llechwedd Slate Caverns at Blaenau Ffestiniog. Both parties can then inspect the site of the future Festiniog Railway station and the progress of the works to date. The return British Rail special will leave Blaenau Ffestiniog at 17.30 and arrive at Crewe where connections exist for all parts e.g. arrival in London will be at 22.20. Seat reservations will be made on all connecting services to Crewe and three-course tray meals made available if booked in advance.

(Note - 85p extra for the optional tour including the Llechwedd Slate Caverns),

This will give the public an opportunity at a very reasonable cost to see the oldest narrow gauge passenger railway in the world.
