Infrastructure Department

From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group

The Infrastructure Department was created when Fred Howes retired in 2010. Initially called External Engineering, the department has brought together the S&T, Permanent Way, Buildings, Electrical & Estates and Line Side Management (LSM) sections under a single senior manager, Julian Harrison. The Head of Infrastructure reports directly to the General Manager.

The Department is currently based at Minffordd Yard (Buildings, Electrical & Estates, LSM, Permanent Way (FR Section) and Head of Infrastructure), Boston Lodge (S & T) and Dinas (Permanent Way (WHR Section)).

A new building has been constructed on the site of the old hostel which includes offices, workshops, stores and mess room. It also accommodates many old wooden casting patterns for locomotive, rolling stock and track parts. The S & T department has moved to Minffordd, allowing their areas at Boston Lodge to be cleared, renovated and used for other purposes.
