Portmadoc Old
From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group
This name was used for Harbour Station to distinguish it from the FR Co./WHR's new station at Portmadoc (see Portmadoc New (1923) and Portmadoc New (1929)).
It had been originally intended that the New Station (by the GWR) would replace the Old Harbour Station as the main terminus of both the FR Co. and WHR, whereby trains would no longer need to pull in front of Harbour Station, but stop at the platform by the goods shed in passing, and for fuelling. However, both lack of cash, and opposition to some of the plans were responsible for it never happening.
