N.B. BEWARE Certain place names are used frequently in the area. One example being Bont Newydd. This is a place referred in Boyd, said to be located near to Rhiw Plas/Minffordd Cemetery. It also refers in the form Bontnewydd to a village and request halt on the Welsh Highland - some 15 miles northwest..

Not all trains run to and from Porthmadog. A service operated to Hafod y Llyn in 2009, to Pont Croesor in 2010 and to Porthmadog (Harbour) in 2011. However, usually only the first out in morning and last back at night use Porthmadog, the rest start and finish at Pont Croesor.

Note that throughout this wiki the names Portmadoc and Porthmadog have been variously used; the first being the older name whilst the second is the more modern and, currently, official title. In older documentation there have been other spellings, including Portmadock, and Port Madoc

The FR Company Head Office is at Harbour Station
For rolling stock the main works and running shed are at Boston Lodge
The principal WHR/RhE running shed and depot is at Dinas Junction
There are FR depots for Permanent Way and Civil Engineering at Minffordd Yard and Glan y Pwll
The WHR Ltd/WHHR depot, works and Museum are at Gelert's Farm Works
