ARRANGEMENTS AT PORTMADOC

FOLLOWING a now established tradition, the Festiniog Railway Special will travel by the northern main line of the former G.W.R. as far as Ruabon, thence by the G.W.R. branch and the Cambrian, via Corwen, Dolgellau and Barmouth to Minffordd.

On arrival at Minffordd, passengers will make their way (as quickly as possible please) up to the Festiniog Railway station, which is connected to the Cambrian station by means of a subway.

Two trains will be run on the Festiniog Railway to convey passengers to Tan-y-Bwlch; and of the two returning trains, the first will call at Boston Lodge to allow time for inspection of the works, the second running non-stop from Tan-y-Bwlch to Portmadoc.

Timings are as follows:—

1st train 2nd train
Minffordd dep. 3-20 3-45
Tan-y-Bwlch arr. 3-50 4-15
dep. 4-30 5-05
Boston Lodge arr. 5-05
dep. 5-30
Portmadoc arr. 5-35 5-45

Choice of train for the return journey will depend on whether you wish to visit Boston Lodge or not, and should be made regardless of the train in which you travelled up to Tan-y-Bwlch.

For the benefit of anyone who may wish to return early to Portmadoc, the first train will, after unloading Boston Lodge passengers, proceed to Portmadoc and then return to pick up those inspecting the works.

Please make a careful note of arrival and departure times, in order to avoid delays to trains.

First class compartments on the F.R. are reserved for those holding first class tickets on the B.R. special.

Details of the arrangements for the A.G.M. have already been circulated to members; for non-members, a film show has been arranged at Portmadoc Town Hall at 7-30 p.m.

The Festiniog Railway Society Ltd. would like to express their appreciation to the Western, London Midland and Eastern Regions of British Railways, all of whom have had a part in the planning and organization of the special train on British Railways.

As the Flying Scotsman on the special train will naturally occasion great interest, will all those travelling on the train please assist by keeping to station platforms at stopping points. It is both dangerous and illegal to walk on the permanent way and your co-operation in this respect is earnestly requested.
