That's the Hearse Van under the sheet, and there's a bogie from a German wagon in the foreground, but what's that long article lying at an angle between them, with the big handwheel? Could it possibly be the last remains of Van 3 (1876) - the solebar on this side having been already removed? But did they have a brakewheel on a horizontal axis - it seems very unusual. If not, what could it be?

None of the preserved vans (2, 4 & 5) have horizontal wheels, they all have similar columns with a wheel rotating around the vertical axis. However it's always possible one of the others was different, the FR carriage fleet doesn't really do standardisation! Eheaps (talk) 21:32, 28 November 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
