Griffith Roberts (b.1795) is thought to be one of the train drivers in Horse operation days. One of the contractors was Robert Roberts of Pensyflog Farm, Portmadoc. Griffith (apparently no relation) worked for him and was recorded as living at the farm in 1851 & 1861. His occupation is given as "Tram road coachman" or "Rail driver of slate"
