This location should not be confused with either the original Hafod y Llyn halt on the Festiniog Railway below Tan y Bwlch, nor with the original WHR Hafod y Llyn (WHR), which is where a temporary terminus existed (2009-2010), and is currently the location of a loop.[route 1]
The Transport & Works plans showed provision for a halt called Hafod y Llyn halt at Ch27100
Prior to construction starting, it was decided to resite the loop, scheduled for this location, to the original Hafod y Llyn site a few hundred metres north at Ch26170
The appearance on public maps in 2010 of a station at this site will confuse even more in future. There are no plans to put a station here. However it was probably the location of the original temporary Hafod Garregog halt of 1923, which was closed after that year and the name transferred to the former Ynysferlas.
