Site of Inclines to the Moelwyn Slate Quarries 1860’s/1870’s.

These quarries had, in the 1820’s/1830’s, been owned by Lord Rothschild who, at that time, successfully delayed the granting of an act of parliament for the building of the FR for eight years from 1824-32. However, by 1840, the banker had sold his Moelwyn Quarry and, through the Rhiwbryfdir quarry of his Welsh Slate, Copper and Lead Mining Co., had become a privileged customer of the Festiniog Railway further up the line
