Since passenger services started running in the area there have been a number of stations bearing the name of Portmadoc through to its current variation of Porthmadog.

- Porthmadog (Network Rail) - the main line (Standard Gauge) station at the west end of town ((built as part of A&WCR - became part of the Cambrian Railway, which in the 1922 Grouping was absorbed by the GWR, at nationailsation to BR, and at privitisation to Network Rail, but currently operated by Arriva Trains Wales.))
- Harbour Station - lifelong home to the Festiniog Railway Company
- Portmadoc New (1923) - temporary station
- Portmadoc New (1929) - temporary station
- Portmadoc New (1933) - temporary station - incorrectly named in certain publications
- Porthmadog (WHR), aka Tremadog Road, southern terminus of the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway
