Goods vans on the NWNGR and WHR.

Two four-wheeled vans are known to have existed on the NWNGR, bearing numbers 2 and 4. They were not identical, and in WHR days they had corrugated-iron roofs.

A point of passing interest is that the corner plates are not the full height of the vehicle, but about the same height as those on the large open coal wagons, and also the ridge-roofed wagons. An additional piece has been added to each corner at the top to make up the additional height. While this proves nothing, it means that it is possible that the vans may have been converted from the ridge-roof wagons, or even from open coals. The width and number of planks is different but that could have been changed if the rebuilding involved new planking.

There was also a van converted from a Quarryman's Coach by the FR for WHR meat traffic, numbered 1. This probably remained as FR property.
