William Owen was born c.1864 in Minffordd. He was the son of Solomon Owen and his wife Margaret. She was the sister of Boston Lodge Superintendent William Williams (1836). In 1881 & 1891 he was living with his parents at Boston Lodge. In 1881 he was a clerk in an iron works (probably Boston Lodge) and in 1891 & 1901 was a Station Master, Tanygrisiau in 1901 and probably there in 1891 also. He cannot be found in the 1911 census but his wife (not classed as a widow) was living in Minffordd.

A person by the name of William Owen was appointed Manager at the J.W. Greaves & Sons quarry in 1897
