William Phillips

William Phillips, Boilermaker.
Born 1850 in Penrhyn, he must have been one of the longest serving employees and was still in the Company's employ in 1915. He always described himself as a fitter but perhaps he specialised in boilers. He married Mary in 1867 and had at least 4 children. They lived in several places in Penrhyn, finally staying at 1, Tyddyn Llwyn sometime before 1891. He was the father of Timothy Phillips who was self appointed guardian of Boston Lodge during the closure period.

William Phillips is possibly the person in the photo known as Boyd26H. (click here to see) This photo is labelled "A Group taken in the Works Yard before the First War". It is believed to be around 1913. It is not all staff from the yard at that time. There was a list attached to the original which declares who the people are. This person is believed to be in the third row from the back and the second person from the left handside.
