This image depicts or resembles the flag of South Africa from 1928 to 1994, which is prohibited as hate speech and may be criminally prosecutable when displayed publicly in South Africa, except for genuine artistic, academic, or journalistic purposes in the public interest. This prohibition is enforced under the Equality Act and in accordance with the ruling of the Supreme Court of Appeal in the case of Afriforum NPC v Nelson Mandela Foundation Trust and Others.
This flag image could be re-created using vector graphics as a SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If a SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.
It is recommended to name the SVG file “Flag of the South African Army (1966–1973).svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
