ex-NWNGR Large Open Wagon at the WHR Ltd Porthmadog station

These wagons were built to carry coal for the North Wales Narrow Gauge Railways (NWNGR), probably after 1890. A total of 15 were built. Their capacity was 4.3 tons of coal and their major dimensions were: 10 ft long, 5 ft wide and 5 ft 6 in high.

These survived into WHR days - sample numbers 3,4,10,12.

At least one is in preservation in the heritage wagon collection of the WHR Ltd, but this is believed to be a replica constructed in recent years using ex-RNAD running gear.
