Annett Key

From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group

The Annett Key is a key used by railway signalling to unlock equipment such as points operated by ground frames.

Annett keys have wards like ordinary household keys and locks, the essential difference being that the Annett key is quite large, (say 12cm long), heavy and rugged.

Rodding[edit]

Annett Keys avoid the need for more costly point rodding, which in any case have a maximum distance from signal box to points.
