Board of Trade

The Board of Trade was a section of Government administration from 1621.

It is the department that for some time looked after the safety of Railways. A list of its officers who have visited the railway for this, is contained in the HMRI entry

Since 2007, its functions were vested in the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
