On this day, Notice issued by the War Department that it was exercising its powers, and taking over the Railway (for the duration of hostilities?). Received by the company on 1914-08-08, along with a letter from the Railway Executive. There is some possibility that originally the FR Co. was not going to be requisitioned.[1]
