LATE ANNOUNCEMENTS Motive Power
Since the printing of our brochure, we have been advised by the Western Region that No. 1019 "County of Merioneth" cannot be made available for the Special, due to the fact that it is not in a sufficiently good mechanical condition to maintain the timings planned.
The locomotive we had asked for as a standby, No. 1010 "County of Caernarvon" is at present in shops, and also unavailable.
Inspector Hancock, who is travelling on the footplate throughout the journey, has promised that he will do everything possible to ensure that the performance of "County of Montgomery" will compensate us for the disappointment in not having "our own 'County'".
Film Show
This will be held in a classroom in the school at Portmadoc at 8.15 p.m. The school is situated near the Western Region station, and is the same one at which the Society's A.G.M. is being held. Notices will be posted at the school to indicate which room is being used. The films being shown include the Festiniog Society's own film of the railway, and some films from the library of the British Transport Commission.
