Y Cambrian, Y Rhymni, Y Taff, Y Barri—atgofion pell a dogfennau llychlyd yw'r cwmniau rheilffyrdd Cymreig hyn yn awr. Ond mae'r hynaf ohonynt i gyd gyda ni o hyd—Lein Fach Ffestiniog, mam holl reilffyrdd culion y byd. Wedi blynyddoedd lawer o ddirywiad a chyfnod byr o segurdod llwyr, daeth gwaredigaeth yn 1954, a byth er hynny mae pethau'n gwella'n gyson.
The Cambrian, the Rhymney, the Taff Vale, the Barry . . . the Welsh railway companies are now nearly all distant memories and dusty files. But the oldest of them all is still with us—the Festiniog Railway, mother of the world's narrow-gauge lines. After many years of decline and a short period of closure, it was rescued in 1954 and has been on the mend ever since.
Y gwaith yn mynd rhagddo ar y ddwy filltir a hanner o lein newydd heibio i lyn y Bwrdd Trydan, a foddodd ran o'r lein yn 1956. Gweithwyr gwirfoddol yw'r rhain i gyd ac mae hynny'n creu rhyw awyrgylch arbennig. Ar y dechrau, rhoddodd y peirianwyr sifil yn eu mysg rifau i'r gwahanol fannau gweithio, ond teimlid fod rhifau'n ddiddychymyg a mabwysiadwyd enwau arnynt, megis "Lleuad Newydd", "Clychau'r Gôg”, etc. Dyma'r fan a eiwir yn "Dragon Site".

Dragon wagon: work in progress on the 2½-mile deviation line which will carry the Festiniog round the hydro-electric scheme which blocked it in 1956. The workers are all volunteers, and give the undertaking a flavour of their own: the civil engineers among them began by giving the different work sites numbers, but this was thought unimaginative and names now prevail. This is Dragon Site.
