Summary[edit]

Society Subscriptions

Members will know from the reading of the Editorial in the Spring Magazine, from discussion at the AGM in April and from their own experience of any club or association to which they regularly subscribe, our Board room debate on the subject has been about “how much” and “when” rather than whether or not Society subscription rates should be raised.

Reflecting the views expressed at our recent AGM, and also most importantly being conscious of the need to maximise the support we can give to the Railway at this time of the final and supreme effort to get through to Tan y Grisiau and Blaenau Ffestiniog to give the line “two ends” again, the Board has decided we should seek to raise subscription rates now to take effect in the 1977/1978 financial year.

That means applying an increase from the 1st October 1977, and to do that in accordance with the rules of the Society we need a mandate from an Extraordinary Meeting forthwith, which this notice calls for following a resolution by the Board carried at our meeting on 14th June 1977.

For a meeting of this sort we felt we had little choice but to choose London as the venue, and realising that this cannot be convenient for many of our members, we do apologise in advance to those who wish to attend who may find the time, distance or date not ideal to their circumstances.

But the business has to be done and we do appeal for a good attendance. Please come if you possibly can, support your Board and give weight to our intentions of increasing in this way our contributions to the great work being done to complete the route.
