The White Rose Group lead the construction of a temporary buffer stop on the up side of the gap, facing towards Blaenau Ffestioniog. A stop board was placed beyond it and a stop block behind to provide maximum protection for the site. Further buffers were constructed on the up and down lines of the station.
In the foreground, the bypass contractors use welding gear to cut through the steel supports under the track on the site of the temporary haul road level crossing.
