English: Terminus of Ffestiniog Railway, Portmadoc Harbour 1952 View westward to buffers, during the nadir of the fortunes of the 1'11 1/2" Ffestiniog Railway from Blaenau Ffestiniog: the important mineral (slate) line of 1836, which carried passengers from the 1850s until 16/9/39, goods to 2/8/46. From 24/6/54, the Company was acquired for preservation by Alan Pegler. Restoration was achieved with much effort but eventual success during the subsequent three decades, culminating in reopening of the terminus at Blaenau Ffestiniog on 25/5/82.
