John Charles (b.1877) born in Ffestiniog to Edwin and Catherine Jones where presumably they had previously lived.

By 1891 they had moved to Penymeini, Penrhyndeudraeth, and John was employed as a engine greaser but maybe not with the FR (not recorded).

Ten years later they had moved to Bryn Meurig, Penrhyndeudraeth, just below Quarry Lane crossing.

In 1911 John Charles was married, living at 3 Church Place, Penrhyndeudraeth and working for the FR as a shunting guard. There is no record of him being employed by the FR before mid 1912.

Later still he was described as a shunter, goods guard and at one time as a porter in Blaenau. He was still employed by the FR in 1940 working for the Traffic Department.
