Thanks, Mark, for this. I suspect most of what I have put on Festipedia needs tidying to be proper archival material. I could add some more about Bill – I believe his actual name was Robert. I met him through the REC (Railway Enthusiast Club, Farnborough) where some of his gang originated. Others, such as Tony Stapley were WR S&T. I have a photo of Bill – Christmas 1963 – at the Prince of Wales quarry which I could attach when I locate it. He first saw the BCN tug Helen in Birmingham when on a canal holiday which he organised in 1963/64. I never knew he bought her until I ran into him working her on the Caldron c1990.
