The basic template is:

To use:-

Copy (Ctrl-C) the text inside the dotted box;
Open the Image to which the template is to be applied, and select the edit tab;
Paste (Ctrl-V) the text in place of all the existing text;
Add the information after the "=" sign as described below, and add other categories as appropriate.

The fields are used as follows:

caption - Enter here a basic description of the photo - obviously you may omit the data you will record below.
date - The preferred format is 29 May 1966 as there is no margin for error (avoid using numbers only or US format). As an option the st, nd, rd or th suffix to the number may be added if the image owner desires. If the day of the week is known it can be added in front of the day number.
location - Any reasonable description of location, for example Minffordd Yard. Locations are based on main stations and Boston Lodge - all areas subservient to these.
photographer - your (or photographers name) where a Category is set up. If this is blank, then Unknown Photographer is displayed by default. If this is FR Company is sets the Category to Category:Photos from FR Company Library.
collection - A field to identify if the image is part of a recognised collection. Mainly for company / official bodies.

If the collection is FR Archives this sets the Category to Category:Photos from FR Archives.

If the collection is FR Company this sets the Category to Category:Photos from FR Company Library.

If the collection is FR Co Publications this sets the Category to Category:FR Company Publications. This collection description is to be used for scans of FR Company publications (guide book covers, leaflets, etc.)

user - Your wiki ID. If this is blank, then no link is made between your name and your user ID.
comments - A free form field to include further information that is not part of the cpation. For example Source file such as for GMP = located here Ref 2102

If the collection is FR Archives this adds a comment concerning permission for use.

licensing - The licensing you wish to apply to the image. Usually either {{Permission from license holder}} or {{Permission from self}}. Others can be used if required. If this field is left blank:-

- the copyright unknown licensing ({{Don't know}}) template is used when the Photographer is not identified; and
- the copyright not provided ({{Not provided}}) template is used when the Photographer is known.

latnorm is the std lattitude eg 53:03:57.26N
lonnorm is the std longitude eg 04:00:41.15W
latdec is the decimal value eg 53.06599
londec is the decimal value eg -4.01141
osgr is the std OS Grid reference eg SH653539

In addition of this template, categories for locations, locomotives, carriages, etc are still required, however the category to the photographer is automatically created.

ALL ENTRIES ARE VOLUNTARY. Fields caption, date and photographer with the titles being displayed.
