Allen Searell

From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group

Allen Searell was a Devonian who came to Beddgelert in 1841 to develop mining. He worked for copper at Sygun, near Beddgelert and for slate at Cwm Orthin. He speculated successfully at Hafod-y-llan (both the slate quarry and the copper mine of the same name), but disasterously at Cefncam.

He died in 1865 after which his son failed to make any further headway for long.

A temporary but interesting user of the line was the Hafod-y-llan or South Snowdon Slate Quarry, which Searell was involved in, in the 1840s.

Landowner John Priestley involved Croesor Tramway Hafod-y-llan (Snowdon) Slate Company Ltd.
