Day Log/1869-09-17

From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group

On this day, only 3 days after its previous meeting, the FR Co. board met again.

On this day, the company dealt with outstanding correspondence.

These included a letter from Oakeley's agent, Major Johnstone, complaining about a fire in the woods, presumed cause by a locomotive. He was informed of the improved spark arresters now fitted to the engines. The landlord of the Sportsman Hotel, in Portmadoc, had made a request for help in maintaining a omnibus carriage to meet the trains at Harbour Station. It was agreed to pay 10 guineas per annum, on the condition that all trains arriving at Harbour were met. This arrangement lasted until August 1874 when the board cancelled it.

Another letter was from F.S. Percival, quarry proprietor, that suggested at least one of the quarry proprietors were still unhappy with the rates charges. C.E. Spooner was delegated to reply along the lines of the new act did not alter the current situation. The board decided to take counsel's opinion on the matter.[1]
