Day Log/2002-10-05

From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group

On this day, the FR Co. issued the following

The FR Board has decided to widen the scope of its experience by appointing three co-opted directors to join its statutory five members. Although of necessity non-voting, it is the Board's intention that these co-opted directors will in other respects be treated precisely on a par with the statutory members. The expanded Board will be able to devote more time and experience to managing the railway through the complex phase of development we are now entering, with the aid of the existing management team.

I am delighted to announce that Helen Waters has agreed to join the Board with immediate effect as a co-opted director. Helen brings experience of managing a railway business in a complex and changing environment, in addition to her knowledge of and commitment to the Ffestiniog Railway. Apart from her general Board role, she will particularly focus on business planning and development, financial appraisal and revenue expansion.

As previously announced, Malcolm High, as Director of finance, and [[Michael Whitehouse]], as Chairman of WHR, make up the rest of the new team as co-opted directors.

My Board colleagues and I look forward to meeting all of you who can attend the AGM and working with you to ensure the continued success of both the FR and WHR businesses.

George Nissen Chairman

On this day, the FRS announced:-

The Board is pleased to announce that at the Board Meeting held on Saturday 5 October 2002, Graham Bond was co-opted on to the Board and elected as Treasurer. The Board wishes to welcome Graham to his new role and offers him their full support.

This means that the Board now has eleven directors, the number allowed by the Articles of Association in conjunction with the resolution passed at the Annual General Meeting in May 2000.

Andy Savage continues to be invited to attend Board Meetings as the representative of the FR Company Board. Although of necessity non-voting, it is the Board's intention that Andy will in all other respects be treated precisely on a par with the elected directors. Peter Randall has also been invited to attend as the FR Company General Manager.

The Board also expresses its gratitude to David Gordon for his efforts whilst a new treasurer was appointed.
