Llyn Cwellyn

View from a carriage of Llyn Cwellyn

Llyn Cwellyn serves as a reservoir for a large area of Gwynedd and Ynys Mon. The Welsh Highland Railway runs along the eastern side of the lake before climbing towards Rhyd Ddu, offering excellent views northwards along the lake towards Bettws Garmon.
There are legends about the lake - see Castell Cidwm.

The farm in the foreground is Clogwyn y Gwîn; how long it may have been since wine was produced here must be a matter for speculation.
