I thought I had read something a few years back, probably in FRM or FRHJ, about moving the crane, and in particular a difficulty resulting in cracking the stone base. Seeing that the crane presently has a crack in the base I thought it referred to this one. But now when I compare the 1952 and 1976 pictures I think it never moved at all, of if so, not very far. The loss of the Long Shed and appearance of the Carriage Works has effectively extended the Bottom Yard. Maybe we should now call it the Middle Yard.

I cannot now find the article in question. Maybe that referred to the crane at Minffordd, which I believe was similar and has been moved but I don't know where. Or did I dream it? --George Cash (talk) 19:26, 29 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
