When replica carriage No.24 was built, a set of genuine NWNGR axleboxes which had been found in the Boston Lodge stores, were used. (source: Festipedia). These might have come from the "mystery carriage"; if they did not, where else did they come from ? Did the bogies of FR 23 lose their NWNGR axleboxes before being sold to Bredgar & Wormshill ? If so, what were their replacements at the time of sale ? I believe the only other possible source of NWNGR axleboxes would seem be Metropolitan No.7. We have evidence that a possible/probable "Ashbury" was broken up at Boston Lodge. We have as yet no evidence that NWNGR No.7 ever reached Port. - A.J. Padley
