de Winton/De Winton - what's in a name?!

Due to the technicalities of this wiki, it is currently not possible to use lowercase for the first word of the article name. Whereas it should be "de Winton", the software will not accept this. Therfore "De Winton" is the title KCB. Our resident class A controller (I wont say Fat cos that would be lying) says this will be rectified in due course. (Insert correct nice smiley here) --Keith (talk) 2008-7-3T15:02:58 (UTC) In a space of little over 24hours, and the amendment has been made. Searches will being the entry in either upper or lowercase. --Keith (talk) 2008-7-4T16:13:10 (UTC)

I propose that we follow the convention in the De Winton book (Fisher x 2 & Jones) of "de Winton" for the man and "De Winton" for the firm. I have probably not be consistent in the pages I have worked on but will edit when I get around to it. MarkTemple (talk) 18:18, 28 March 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Bridge beams on the NWNGR[edit]

Weren't some of the iron beams in the NWNGR bridges made by de Wintons? Answering my own question they were: Pont Betws (OB53)
