Bogie Coal Wagon No. 72 at Glan-y-mor in 2013 with both sides and one end removed

Open Bogie Coal wagons (also known as Bocoal) used by the FR are of War Department or Robert Hudson design (Robert Hudson, unlike the FR, used only one "g") with wooden drop doors on either side and a wooden floor. They are mounted on WD bogies and used as part of the S & T department works trains.

They may be seen carrying almost anything except coal, which is nowadays carried in ex-SAR B Wagons or the Cleminson Flexible Six-Wheeled Waggon.

Most are fitted with a handbrake working on the bottom end bogie.

The photo shows No. 72 at Glan-y-mor in October 2013 with both sides and one end removed.
