Una is a Quarry Hunslet (873) built in 1905 for the Pen Yr Orsedd Quarry in Dyffryn Nantlle. Pen-yr-Orsedd Quarry was a slate quarry in the Nantlle Valley in North Wales. It was one of the last slate quarries operating in North Wales and the last operating on the Nantlle area, finally closing in 1979. Una was just one of a number of Hunslet locomotives to work at the quarry.

Una was withdrawn from service in 1960, and sold in 1965. A major overhaul was started in 1975. In 1977 the loco was sold to the National Museum of Wales for the National Slate Museum, and the overhaul completed in 1978[1].

Over the years Una has carried many different liveries from when it worked in the quarry up until the present day at the National Slate Museum where she is now kept on display and steamed occasionally on the Llanberis Lake Railway. One such occasion was back in 2014 for their July gala where it worked trains alongside sister loco Britomart which had also worked at the Pen-yr-Orsedd Quarry.

Una has visited the Ffestiniog Railway in 1993 for the Hunslet 100 gala where it could be found moving around Minffordd Yard.
