Plas Smart is a small building in the oldest part of the Boston Lodge site - the 'Top Yard'. It was built c 1836 and was initially used as a store for the adjoining wagon sheds. It is thought to have been converted to the Locomotive Superintendent's office in about 1881.

Many of the original buildings in the Top Yard were demolished prior to 1954 and only Plas Smart, the Brass Foundry (No 98 - BL011),The Blacksmith's Shop (No 99 - BL 012)
