On this date, new contracts commenced for "haulage of slate, slabs, minerals, and carriage from the termini at Rhiwbryfdir, and stations on other parts of the line to the wharves at Portmadoc".

It had been advertised in November 1857, and this caused Henry Archer some concern.[1]
