Day Log/1874-04-14

From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group

On this day, Colonel Frederick H. Rich from the Railway Inspectorate visited the railway for another inspection tour.

On this occasion, he inspected both Tan y Bwlch and Dduallt.

At Tan y Bwlch most of what he found was acceptable, apart from the requirement for a repeater fot the down distant signal.

C.E. Spooner informed him of the plan that trains would pass on the opposite side to that customary, being most convenient and safe for working the mineral traffic. Rich didnt agree, but "as it can be changed without difficulty... submit the mode of working ..... not be interfered with"

At Dduallt, major work was required to bring it to the standard before it could be used.
