Day Log/1891-08-18

On this day, an FR Co. board meeting took place. It discussed the Railway & Canal Traffic Act, of 1888[1]

This act seemed to be some regulation of carriage charges for goods

The Company had submitted a list of its tariffs to the Board of Trade in order that a provisional order be submitted to Parliament for a bill to be raised.

Unfortunately an amendment to the rates proposed would have produced a loss of over a hundred pounds compared with existing rates.

There were a number of objectors to the bill, four of which were also objecting to the new bills in general. The fifth was the Oakely Slate quarries, which also represented all the company's quarry customers

By negotiation, eventually, the Railway Rates and Charges No 6. (Festiniog Railway &c.) Order Confirmation Act, 1892 was passed on 20 June 1892

The Railway Rates and Charges, No. 6 (Festiniog Railway, &c.), Order Confirmation Act 1892 was repealed as part of the Statute Law (Repeals) Act 2013 which gained Royal Assent on 31 January 2013[2].
