Day Log/1896-10-07

From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group

On this date, Lt-Colonel H. Arthur Yorke, an inspecting officer of the Board of Trade, reported his findings for the accident at Penrhyn on 28th August 1896.

The train had vacuum braking throughout, and no fault was attached to this. No other distinguishing comment was made regarding the train or staff involved. However, the incident happened on a right hand curve of 7 chain radius. The straight sections immediately before and after this had been resleepered around April, but there had not been any attention to the curve itself for some time.[1]
