Joe Rivett, to whom a brief tribute was published in the Summer 1982 issue of the Festiniog Railway Magazine[1], was one of the first to respond when the start of organised volunteer work was announced in the Autumn of 1954. He provided very skilled help at Boston Lodge and also undertook some repairs and refurbishments as homework tasks. He was also involved in the formation of the Lancashire and Cheshire Group of the Festiniog Railway Society.
