Wagons vs Waggons

At the top of the article page, it states:

At some point in the companies pre-preservation history, the term waggon instead of wagon, was used in some documentation. Whilst both terms, viz a viz, are used in this wiki, most other sources use the single wagon spelling when referring to FR vehicles.

This was a statement, believed to reflect the situation and explain the reason why both spellings are used interchangeably.

This was placed after some discussion onlline by various people, including a paraphrased statement, "the company used the word interchangeably", and a generic comment of spelling was not consistent through out the land.

Subsequently this stance was contested, and a little further digging was done.

On sources immediately available online:

The FRS website, one of many related to the FR, was searched and 54 articles were found to contain either "wagon" or "wagons". The number for "waggon" or "waggons" was 9.

The former Ben Fisher/WHR Society site, similarly, giving 104 and 0.

The RAIB, recording incidents on UK railways, albeit more recently, there is no usage of the "waggon" spelling.

Offline, but may be available to some, is an electronic version of the FR Heritage group Chronology, of which my own copy is dated 2000. This has a digest of previous copies of the FR Magazine and the FR Heritage magaine. When the same query, as above, was tried, then the respective numbers were "over 100" and "1".
