Vale of Rheidol Railway

From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group

The Vale of Rheidol Light Railway is a 2 foot (nominal) gauge railway that runs from Aberystwyth to Devil's Bridge in Ceredigion. It has some association with the FR; some FR locomotives have visited the VoRR, and the workshops at the VoRR have been contracted work.

Palmerston was hired by the VoRR to help with the summer traffic in 1912, and again in the summers of 1913, 1914, 1921 and 1922. In 1923 Palmerston's services were requested again but the FR refused, in anticipation of new traffic with the opening of the WHR. Partly in commemoration of these previous visits Palmerston revisited the VoRR in 2014.

Mountaineer visited the line in September 1986.

An ex-Vale of Rheidol brake van exists on the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway. See WHHR Carriages.
