Day Log/1886-08-18

From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group

On this date, the company held its AGM in London.

Full dividend on the preference shares had been approved. The dividend of 1½% had been voted for on the ordinary stock. Thi might have led to calls from shareholders to request a committee be formed to investigate if working expenses could be reduced without affecting efficiency and safety. That proposal was accepted, and the committee was to be comprised of Livingston, Cairnes, CHC. Huddart, J. W. Elliott, and an outside scientific advisor chosen by the committee (later, this turned out to be John Stevenson Macintyre)[1]
