The Festiniog Railway, now one of the world’s oldest independent lines (1836), runs through superb country from Portmadoc to Dduallt— 9½ miles. The section on to Blaenau Ffestiniog has still to be reopened.

The first passenger train on this section for 29 years. Earl of Merioneth leads coach 15—Britain's first bogie coach—on a historic train into Dduallt station on 6th April 1968.
