Surely we can choose a more interesting photo to go with this article on the homepage. I suggest either the one in the infobox of the Beddgelert Station page or the old one of Welsh Pony below it. Eheaps (talk) 12:47, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I've changed the photo. Because we have so few articles that are really up to encyclopaedia standard I recycle the same 12 featured articles every year at the moment. All I do each year is check to see if the article has any updates that need to be reflected in the template. It looks like this particular item has had this photo since December 2008 at which time it was the infobox image. What would be really good would be to get more items up to standard so that we aren't always recycling the same featured articles. It would be even better if others would take on the responsibility of sorting out featured articles! --Peter Harrison (talk) 14:42, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Perhaps there should be a page in the community section listing articles considered up to the standard and where people can nominate articles they think should be included. If a list existed it would enable people to convert them into "ready to go" templates that can then be used for future months. The templates could then be linked from the list page for speedy access. I wouldn't mind being involved in writing the templates, there are certainly a number of articles that I think could merit inclusion in the rotation. If a page were created in the appropriate place I would also be willing to populate it with the current list, set up links tables etc and provide a space for article nominations. There is now a Festipedia:Featured articles page and I have also set up the necessary templates and category to support a proper featured article system. Now we just need people to use it! --Peter Harrison (talk) 21:54, 30 November 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
