David Baskcomb

From Festipedia, hosted by the FR Heritage Group

David Baskcomb was a member of the Boston Lodge Works team, first as apprentice and then as fitter/driver. He came to Boston Lodge in 1962 having previously been a Midland Group stalwart.[1] (His father, Tom Baskcomb was also a stalwart of the Midland Group and in 1969 his sister was the FR's only lady fireman.) He specialized in internal combustion machines and was also an accomplished radio engineer. He was Blanche's regular driver from her arrival until 1968 and then took over Merddin Emrys.

He may have been involved in the conversion of the Stefcomatic.

He left the FR staff at the end of April 1969 to join the staff of Trawsfynydd Atomic Power Station. He later moved to Canada and worked on the Canadian National railway.[2]
