Hi Simon, welcome to Festipedia.

The use of Tanygrisiau, as opposed to Tan-y-Grisiau, is in line with most "online references" that can be found. I just did a search on "Tan y Grisiau" and 80% of results came back as "Tanygrisiau". Main wikipedia does say 'Tan y grisiau' is proper format, but uses the single word option, presumably as it is more used.

Historically, on here, we have the problem with "Tan y Bwlch" as well.

There was some discussion with the late Dr Ben Fisher on the correctness of "Tanybwlch", "Tan y Bwlch", "Tan-y-Bwlch", or even "Tan-Y-Bwlch", but that discussion has been lost in time. --Keith (talk) 2009-10-26T15:18:36 (UTC)

If Simonj5 intends to change all occurences of "&" to "and" and hyphenate all welsh place names then he has a long job!

I don't intend to got through everything and change it but I thought that part of the philosophy of a wiki was to contribute where you could and I was 'not fully engaged' at work one day and saw something at odds with the other parts - so I changed it! I shall make a more thorough search to try and determine what the majority of the spellings of Welsh place names are in future. Perhaps there's a style-guide somewhere that states how, for example, hyphenation of place names should be approached?

That is indeed part of the philosophy. Don't let anyone put you off! We do have a style guide but it doesn't have anything about hyphenation of Welsh place names or related subjects.
