Fate of the wheelsets[edit]

The articles says the surviving wheelsets are under LT. However, I thought that one of James Spooner's wheelsets was used for the memorial at Pen Cob (https://www.flickr.com/photos/crowquine/8468293762/in/photolist-dUjdGS). Does anyone know for sure? Dan, my memory plays tricks sometimes, but did not a Fairlie break an axle on Port king point some twenty years since? It was quite a business moving it, but when the offending wheelset was removed, it said 929 on the wheel boss. So it must have done 120 years or so in service. I have seen no such number on the wheelset used in the memorial, but I defer to anyone who has inspected it more closely.

Coupling[edit]

The picture titled "James Spooner at Portmadoc around 1874" has a coupling not previously seen on FR.

It consists of a buffer above a hook and chain. FarleyBrook (talk) 08:20, 24 February 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Renaming[edit]

I propose that this page should be moved to James Spooner I. RedDragon (Say hi!) 19:26, 5 April 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I'm in two minds about this idea. It makes sense from the point of view of distinguishing between the two James Spooner locomotives however no other locomotive articles have a "I" in them (e.g. Taliesin and Mountaineer) and I think this wiki needs more consistency rather than less! My issue is the (Locomotive) part of the title, which is in one, but not the other. Should JS II have (Locomotive) after it? RedDragon (Say hi!) 08:54, 6 April 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Looking at other articles on this wiki it seems to me that to maintain consistency this article should be renamed simply as "James Spooner" (with suitable disambiguation at the top). This would bring it into line with other articles about locos named after people (David Lloyd George and Livingston Thompson). However I'm not sure this is actually the best course of action when it comes to avoiding confusion. Perhaps the JSII, LT and DLG articles should all have (Locomotive) added to their titles? Most people will come to Festipedia to find out about train-related stuff, so having (Locomotive) peppered around the Wiki is a bit clunky. Maybe have James Spooner I, James Spooner II and James Spooner/James Spooner (Person)? RedDragon (Say hi!) 10:33, 6 April 2016 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I like James Spooner I, James Spooner II and James Spooner (Person) with the plain James Spooner being left as disambiguation. To keep things consistent perhaps we should also move Taliesin to Taliesin I with the original page becoming a disambiguation (and similar for Mountaineer).
